Ikea Instagram

Instagram just got bigger!

Ikea have taken Instagram to a whole new level. Using Instagram’s tagging features and grid structure the furniture retailer has created an account that functions just like a website.

The Instagram account @ikea_ps_2014 showcases 34 items of it’s latest collection. By clicking on any picture you are taken to another account devoted to that piece of furniture.

This unique marketing campaign was created by the ad agency Instinct and was developed to reflect the 2014 PS Collections main concept of ‘Always on the move’. We personally think they have nailed it!!

Could this brilliant idea change the original functionality of Instagram and inspire other marketers around the world?

Getting the most out of social media

Using social media to increase the growth of your business is fun and exciting but it can also be a little overwhelming considering the amount of online resources that are available to help you get started.
To make it a little easier for you we have jotted down a few tips that we have found helpful at Fish Tank Creative.

Post at the right time

The most effective times to upload content to your social media is between the hours of 6am – 8am and then again in the afternoon at 2pm – 5pm.
Although its important to know who your audience is and when they will be using social media. Once you have determined this you should aim to schedule your posts around those times.

Create relevant content

If you can post information that is current and relevant to your customer, you’ll give your audience a reason to read your posts and from there visit your website.
Social media updates can consist of pretty much anything that will engage your audience. Try posting about local news, images, status updates on your company and its latest projects, local events and even jokes!

Post regularly

Your audience wants regular updates and that’s what will keep them coming back.
Different social media platforms suggest a different posting frequencies. Posting on Facebook should be limited to 2-3 times a day, 7 days a week where as LinkedIn should be cut down to once a day and only on weekdays.

Develop a consistent style

Use a consistent style for your posts to create a voice for your business. If it helps create a basic style guide and keep the language style the same to develop an online personality.

Connect with others

Further define your company’s personality by connecting with relevant groups to determine how you want to be seen. Also interacting with your audience is always appreciated. Reply to both positive and negative comments, acknowledge their status updates and provide advice when appropriate.

How to manage multiple Instagram accounts

It’s not a secret that social media is no longer a novelty but a powerful business tool, in saying this Fish Tank Creative has just joined the world of Instagram!

Unfortunately the main flaw in the Instagram platform is there is no ability for multiple account management. It is becoming more popular to have multiple accounts (e.g personal and company accounts) and we all know Instagram only allows you to have the one account on a single device and therefore makes multiple account management a real head ache. Aside from logging in and out of your different accounts there is no way to switch between accounts.

To help us manager our Fish Tank Creative Instagram account we looked into alternative ways to manage multiple accounts on one mobile device.

Primary

We first thought the app Primary answered all our preys but unfortunately it still doesn’t support the function to upload photos to multiple Instagram accounts. Although I wouldn’t disregard this app completely as it allows you to fast-switch between different accounts which we have found to be extremely useful if you want to monitor your posts. You can also view and respond to your photo comments and wait for it…. you can pinch and zoom into photos! Instagram currently doesn’t allow the usual pinch and zoom function.

Instapload

The Instapload app is quiet basic although it does allow for you to upload photos to multiple accounts. HOORAY!! Another handy little feature of this app is that you can easily download posts from other Instagram accounts directly into your photo gallery. Good bye screen shots!

One con we found in using Instapload is it seems the sharpness of your image is reduced on upload so we may have to be careful when using this app.
